Integrated wiring systems for buildings and complexes

The development of integrated wiring is closely related to building automation systems. Traditional wiring such as telephones and computer LANs are independent. Each system is designed and installed by a different professional, and traditional wiring uses different cables and different terminal sockets. Moreover, the plugs, sockets and patch panels connecting these different wirings are not compatible with each other. Changes in office layout and environment often occur. When office equipment needs to be adjusted or equipment needs to be replaced with the development of new technologies, wiring must be replaced. Its transformation not only increases investment and affects daily work, but also affects the overall environment of the building.

definition
The full name of Premises Distribution System is “Integrated Wiring System for Buildings and Building Groups”.

System Components
According to the EIA/TIA 568 standard, the building’s integrated wiring system consists of six independent subsystems:
1、Workspace subsystem (user terminal): It consists of the connection between the terminal equipment and the information socket. It includes assembly cords, connectors and expansion cords required for connection, and bridges between the terminal equipment and I/O. .
2、Horizontal subsystem (flat floor system): realizes the connection between the information socket and the management subsystem (distribution frame). Generally, twisted pairs are used as the output points for voice and data.
3、Backbone subsystem (vertical shaft system): realizes the connection between computer equipment, program-controlled switches and various management subsystems. Commonly used media are multi-core twisted pairs and optical fibers.
4、Management room subsystem (wiring and wiring system): Realizes wiring management and makes tracking and patching easy by using color coding. In addition, its small size saves 50% space than traditional wiring boxes.
5、Equipment room subsystem (computer room system): Provides the hardware environment and interfaces for connecting the backbone and the network, such as PBX, mainframe, computer network communication center and other equipment. There are a large number of hardware devices in this subsystem, and a large number of communication trunks are concentrated.
6、Building group subsystem (outdoor system): realizes the interconnection between buildings, including transmission media and various supporting equipment that support communication between building groups, such as cables, optical cables and electrical protection equipment; as well as microwave, wireless TV and other means of communication.

Basic Information
Integrated cabling is a modular, highly flexible information transmission channel within a building or between building groups. Through it, voice equipment, data equipment, switching equipment and various control equipment can be connected to the information management system, and at the same time, these equipment can be connected to the external communication network. It also includes all cables and related connecting components between the connection points of the building’s external network or telecommunications lines and the application system equipment. Integrated wiring consists of components of different series and specifications, including: transmission media, related connection hardware (such as patch panels, connectors, sockets, plugs, adapters) and electrical protection equipment. These components can be used to build various subsystems, each of which has its own specific purpose. It is not only easy to implement, but also can be upgraded smoothly as needs change.
With the rapid development of global computer technology and modern communication technology, people’s demand for information is becoming more and more intense. This has led to the rise of smart buildings with functions such as Building Automation (BA), Communication Automation (CA), and Office Automation (OA) around the world. The integrated wiring system is the hardware foundation for information exchange between internal systems in smart buildings and between internal systems and the outside world. The building integrated wiring system (PDS) is the “information highway” inside the modern building and an extension of the information highway in the modern building.
